Enterprise for Impact

Through ventures such as our HACT Plant Nursery, Book Nook, White Elephant, and Haberdashery, we provide jobs, skills development, and a source of pride for local community members.

All profits are reinvested into our programmes, ensuring that every purchase contributes directly to saving and transforming lives.

HACT Plant Nursery

The aim of HACT’s Izingadi Zethemba “Gardens of Hope” Plant Nursery is twofold;

To provide skills training, food security and sustainable job opportunities for local people living in disadvantaged communities who have been impacted by HIV/AIDS
To contribute to the long-term sustainability of HACT, by generating proceeds that are channelled back directly into the organisation’s non-profit projects and services.

In addition to selling a wide variety of both indigenous and exotic plants and garden decor direct to the public, we offer professional and affordable landscaping services for local residential and commercial properties and office parks.

Ubuntu Ground Café

Opened in January 2020 under HACT Biz, this exciting new social enterprise initiative not only sells delicious coffee and great food but is inspiring change one cappuccino at a time by providing skills development, training and work experience placements to local, unemployed youth.

Furthermore, income generated through the Café’s sales are channelled directly back into the organisation’s 24-bed Respite Unit which in turn is helping to secure this life-saving projects long-term sustainability.

23 year-old, Nokukhanya Shange is one of the Café’s recent 2020 graduates who has since been employed fulltime at the Café as their head barista. “The Ubuntu Ground Café has changed my life in so many ways” says Nokukhanya, “I’ve learnt so much through my training and discovered skills and talents I never knew I had. I’m also very proud to be working as a barista which is usually a job done by men, my cappuccinos are the best in town!”
